Internet Marketing - Don’t Be Overwhelmed
I've been there, you've been there. Unless you just started in Internet marketing, you have been in that state of "Oh my God, what have I done?" It is the common cry of the Newbie, heard all around the internet world. What am I doing? I have three hundred things going on at once and I don't know which end is up anymore! When you start out in this biz, it's amazing the sheer amount of data you must ingest and conquer to make any headway.
You can use this phenomenon to your advantage. Yes, that's right! Any experienced IMer will tell you that if in fact you are overwhelmed, then you aren't doing it correctly. One of the main tenets of successful internet marketing states that you should not try to do too many things at once. When you are to the point of confusion, you are straying from the true path to success.
The whole trick is to focus on one task at first, until you have mastered it. Compare it to learning to play Golf. You wouldn't pick up a golf club, go to a course and expect to shoot below par! First you would learn a proper grip, stance, and swing. Then you would practice your swing until you could make solid contact with the ball. Next, well you get the picture. The temptation to race forward in any kind of money-making pursuit is very difficult to quash, but it can be the worst thing you can possibly do.
Remember that Rome wasn't built in a day, (sorry), and neither will your E-business be. If you think about the actual reason that you are stressed out, you will probably agree that you are not being thorough enough. A simple test is to go back to the first day. If you've been taking notes this should be fairly easy. If you are in a program such as PIPS, the training days are numbered and you can always go back to check some facet of the process. Once you are there, re-read the material and see how much you don't remember or have missed. Chances are you will see something new, or at least something you have forgotten.
It's like returning to a stubborn jigsaw puzzle after an hour and suddenly seeing 5 or 6 pieces that drop right into place. That method works with almost any thing you put your brain to. How do you apply it to your IM training? Simple. It's not necessary to compose a whole series of outlines and notes. All you need to do is take one thing at a time and finish it to the point that you can't at this time, go any further with it. NOW ISN'T THAT EASY? It's so easy it sounds silly!
If you can try this method, I am positive that you will become less frantic, worried, and more sure of eventual success than you have been since that first time you rode your bicycle without the training wheels and felt that you could go all day!
