Internet Marketing Myths - Truth or Fiction? Part I
There are many internet marketing myths doing the rounds, and many of them quite deliberate. The objective of internet marketing products is to help you to sell other products on the internet, and people coming to the internet with offline marketing experience can be misled by some of the things being claimed online.
Here are number of internet myths, some stated in good faith and others in order to seduce people to become involved in internet marketing in order to sell them a product. There is one thing common with each. There is a degree of truth in them that will be of little use to a newcomer, but if spotted can be taken advantage of.
Internet Marketing is Easy
Internet marketing is work hard work. People involved in internet marketing initially have to work harder than in the day job. Dont believe those that claim to spend only one morning a week on their business they dont, or if they do it is only after years of hard work, and they are now able to employ others to do the hard, repetitive tasks for them.
However, if you can see ways of automating the repetitive tasks in your business you will find it a lot easier, if not exactly easy.
You Need a Website to Start
Thats wrong as well. You will ultimately need a website to make money, but too many people fail because they get a website first then wonder what to do with it. They then spend their time and effort trying to use their website to make money. They should first plan their business, determine who their customers are, and how best to attract these customers to the product. They should work out a longer-term strategy without relying on making money immediately.
Then they can decide what kind of sales promotion they should make, and what kind of website is best for that. What web tools they need, and how they are going to advertise. Then, and only then, should they actually acquire a website and construct and design it according to their business plan. That is the way to success. Your business is a business, not a hobby. Treat it like a hobby and it will pay like a hobby.
