Keeping New Year Resolutions - Step Ten - Become an Action Figure

As you approach a new day on your way to keep your New Year resolutions, you will need to become an action figure. That means waking up with the goal of doing at least one thing to move toward your goal. Of course, if you have a larger goal, your progress will be faster if you do more work. If you are not used to taking action, you are not alone. Nearly 90% of those who do not accomplish goals do nothing. So, it may be a stretch to be active and move forward if you are not used to being active.

For example, if you have been a couch potato for a long time and your New Years resolution involve becoming a marathon runner, take care not to bite off more than you can chew at first. Be realistic about your ability, stamina and skill level, and write your resolution accordingly.

If you are are a hundred pounds overweight, your ultimate goal might be to lose those 100 pounds. However, that does not happen overnight. Make an immediate goal to start with simple exercise, like walking once around the block every day for a month. As you get more momentum and feel more fit, you can increase your workout.

It is important to dream big. Most people set goals that are too small and never find out they could have done so much more if they raised their sights. You also have to keep in mind where you are starting from. If you try to do too much too soon, you may get injured or disappointed and then give up. So, take reasonable action to start and increase your efforts to make progress as you go along.

Remember, accomplishing a New Years resolution is a journey of taking the ten steps over and over again. When you master these, you will literally run toward your goals and achieve them.
